RETURN OF MEDALS
UNITED VETERANS OF TAMIL NADU
There is no doubt now that an obstinate and obdurate central government is now seeking greater sacrifices from the Veterans of Tamil Nadu. Perhaps they will be satisfied only if all of us fast unto death.
Yet the day has come when we have to part with something that we hold dearer than our lives – OUR MEDALS.
On Sunday, 29 November 2015, all veterans are requested to hold PADAIVEERAR PAASARAI in all the 32 Districts of Tamil Nadu at their District Headquarters. During that meeting all Ex-Servicemen are requested to return their medals which will be collected and handed over to the District Collector on a suitable day as agreed with the Collector. The medal should be deposited at the Collectors’ Offices before 10 December 2015.
For Kanchipuram District and Chennai City the PADAIVEERAR PAASARAI will be held at Sembakkam Bus Stand on 29 November 2015 from 10.00 AM to 2.00 PM.
MODALITIES
Medals are sacred to us. Hence the collection and depositing of medals will be strictly as per the following modalities.
District Presidents
Each District will appoint a District President of United Veterans of Tamil Nadu. The name and details of the District president will be forwarded to the co-ordinating office at the earliest as per the following form UVT 001.

Committees
Each District will constitute three Committees as under. Committees will consist of five members. Members may for part of more than one Committee:-
(a) Medals Collection Committee.
(b) Medals Packing Committee.
(c) Medals Depositing Committee.
Medals Collection Committee
Medals will be collected on Form UVT 002 in triplicate. Committee will provide necessary number of forms. Original to be retained with the individual, duplicate with the Committee and triplicate to be forwarded to this office.

Medals Packing Committee
Packing committee will arrange for sufficient number of plastic covers of the appropriate size. Medals will be packed in them in a water-tight manner. Name of the depositer will be will be written over it with indelible ink.
Medals will be placed in a proper 7-ply cardboard carton and sealed in an air-tight manner. The medals must not shake inside. The carton should be pasted with white paper all around. Details of medal depositors with signature of a Committee Member should be stuck prominently.
Medals Depositing Committee
The medals should be deposited in the office of the District Collector within ten days and receipt obtained if possible. Till then they will be kept under the custody of the District President.
Coordinating Conference
A Meeting will be held on 14 November 2015 at No. 1, Sowbhagya Lakshmi st., Rajeswari nagar Extn., Near Camp Rd Jn., East Tambaram from11.00 AM to 1.00 PM. All Chennai members and District Presidents of the Association are requested to attend the Meeting.
Conclusion
All veterans are requested to give the widest possible circulation to this mail.
